Rules & Regulations
PLEASE READ THE RULES AND REGULATIONS CAREFULLY AS WE ARE CONSTANTLY UPDATING THEM
It is advisable to submit your entries as soon as possible as spaces may be
limited. Closing date for entries is 7th January 2024. This may be sooner
depending on the number of entries.
- All fees are non-refundable.
- Please ensure that you place your entries in the correct age groups and Genre as they will not be moved on competition day.
- Age as on day of competition. NB. If absolutely necessary, younger dancers may perform in an older age group eg. Junior child can compete in the Intermediate category. An older member must not perform in a younger category as this will result in the entry being disqualified.
- Please observe the Age Groups carefully when completing your entries. If a dancer/s is/are found to be dancing in the wrong age group they/their team will be disqualified. The Nicmac Team reserves the right to approach any Producer/Teacher and request proof of age of any dancer.
- Entries for teams are invited in small and large sections. Should there be only one entry for a genre in either section they will compete with other routines of the same genre in the other section.
- Competitors’ Performance Area. Teachers are responsible for clearing the performance area after each routine. Any props included in a performance of an aerosol nature are not permitted.
- Any apparatus used must be of a safe nature and must not include School/Dance Co or Producers’ name. Any items discarded during performance must not hamper or obstruct Open Competitions.
- Anyone recreating in part/whole professional dance routines/acts will be disqualified.
- In the event of a tie, marks in the Ability and Content section will decide the placing. If there is still no clear winner the competitors will be asked to re-perform.
- The same routine cannot be performed in both Schools and Open Competitions.
- Music must be of a non-offensive nature.
- It must be understood that each adjudicator has his/her own manner of marking and that marks given in different sections are not strictly comparable. Communication with the adjudicators before, during or after the competition is prohibited.
- The adjudicators’ decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
- If there is only one item in a category the adjudicators will award either a silver or gold placing. The area behind the adjudicators is restricted to NICMAC personnel only and no one is permitted beyond this point.
